The biggest forest areas of Kuhankuono are located approximately 35 km north from Turku. Most of the large forest area is situated in the areas of Mynämäki, Nousiainen, Vahto, Pöytyä and Aura municipalities. Due to the amendments made in 2009 a distinguish part of trails extend to the areas of Turku and Raisio cities as well as Masku and Rusko municipalities. This part was previously known as Suokulla trails.
There are nine marked annular routes equipped with lean-to shelters and campfire places. The combined length of the annular routes and connecting trails is over 200 kilometers. Versatile hiking and experience services are provided for groups by the local entrepreneurs.
The map data opening by clicking the link above, just like all the different route links, is implemented by creating a link to Lounaispaikka map service. The service is provided by local GIS centre and it is completely free.
The approach map opens by clicking the link above. It is generalized and fairly quick to read. You can print it out and take it with you when you go hiking in Kuhankuono. Unfortunately the map is in Finnish only.
There is a new bus connection from Turku and Säkylä (starting 1.1.2013). The trip takes about 25 minutes. The bus leaves from the central bus station in Turku (platform 6). The bus operator is Satakunnan liikenne Oy and the bus goes approximately once in an hour. The time tables: Turku-Kuhankuono and Säkylä-Kuhankuono. The connection is Express with an express fare, but if you are more than 9 persons, you can get a reduced price group ticket by negotiating direct with the operator Satakunnan Liikenne Oy.
